Company History
Since its founding in 1905, The University of Texas School of Dentistry (UTSD) at Houston has graduated more than 11,000 dentists, dental hygienists and postgraduate generalists and specialists. The school joined UT System in 1943 and became part of UT Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) in 1972. UTHealth is the most comprehensive academic health university in Texas, uniting schools of dentistry, medicine, nursing, public health, biomedical sciences and biomedical informatics.
Currently, the School of Dentistry offers 10 accredited programs: DDS, dental hygiene, two primary care general residency programs, and six specialty programs, including endodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, periodontics, pediatric dentistry and prosthodontics. The school's oral and maxillofacial surgery program offers two tracks: a certificate-only program, and one leading to both a certificate and an MD degree from UTHealth Medical School.
