The Department of Cell Systems & Anatomy (CSA), Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at University of Texas Health San Antonio (UTHSA) is inviting applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor rank anatomy faculty position.
We seek candidates with a strong interest and experience in teaching human gross anatomy for dental, medical, health professions, and/or graduate students. Candidates should hold a PhD, MD, DDS, DVM, dual degrees, or international equivalent degrees.
The ideal applicant will have formal coursework and experience teaching human full-body dissection gross anatomy to dental, medical, or health professional students, enabling them to actively contribute to gross anatomy courses immediately. Experience with embryology, histology, and/or neuroanatomy is preferred but not required. CSA has a rich history of teaching and research excellence and innovation. The primary responsibilities will include contributing to high-quality anatomical instruction, incorporating modern digital technology, preparing and administering courses, delivering lectures, assessing student performance, and faculty collaboration. Teaching formats include large-group lectures, small group active learning, and cadaveric dissection laboratory sessions. Experience with clinical case-based, team-based, and self-directed active learning pedagogy is preferred. The successful applicant will participate in scholarship, departmental, university, and external service activities to enhance their career development as a faculty member. Research in CSA encompasses graduate and undergraduate health profession education best practices and innovations, anatomic variations, cancer biology, aging, neuroscience, and stem cell biology.
